Most common types of shipping marks include:
- Consignee mark: Name and address of shipment recipient.
- Consignor mark: Name and address of shipment sender.
- Country of origin mark: Country where the goods were manufactured or produced.
- Marks and numbers: A unique ID for the shipment, such as a serial number or batch number.
- Handling marks: Symbols that indicate how the shipment should be handled (i.e. ‘fragile’ or ’this side up’)
- Weight mark: Weight of the shipment in kg or lbs.
If you’re shipping goods overseas, it’s important to use shipping marks that comply with the regulations of the countries involved. For example, the weight of a shipment entering the U.S. is best provided in pounds per local standards.
